SeaNet
your cruise
Welcome to Your Cruise! This page is dedicated to helping you get ready to use SeaNet on your upcoming research cruise. It is very important that you take steps to set up SeaNet accounts WELL IN ADVANCE of your cruise or your ability to use the SeaNet system will be compromised. We recommend that you submit the SeaNet forms (see below) at the same time you fill out your shiptime request.

I need to know more.

  1. SeaNet Availability. Currently, SeaNet is available on the following ships: R/V Alpha Helix , R/V Atlantis, R/V Knorr, R/V Oceanus, R/V Seward Johnson, R/V Seward Johnson II, R/V Wecoma , and R/V Pelican. For more information on these ships, go to the Shipboard Systems page (under Operations in the main menu). There is also a portable SeaNet unit available for installation on other UNOLS vessels. Contact seanet-ops@seanet.int or call 508-289-3700 for more information on the portable unit.

  2. SeaNet Use Ideas. If you need some ideas for how SeaNet has been used by others, go to the SeaNet Capabilities pages.

  3. Budget Guidelines. This information will help you to figure out how much to budget for communications costs on your cruise.

I am ready to set up a DataPipe or Interactive IP account.

Please download the following two forms, fill them in and fax them to Laura Goepfert at 508-457-2107. Contact Laura at seanet-ops@seanet.int or 508-289-3700 if you have any questions about the information required on these forms or you would like to set up an Interactive IP account.

I've completed my cruise.

The SeaNet group would love to hear back from you if you've used SeaNet on your cruise. Please send an email to seanet-ops@seanet.int with comments. We would also like to put a link to your cruise web site on the SeaNet site. Please send us the url if you are interested.
